Lyndey MilanLyndey Milan is an energetic multi-award-winning communicator, author, teacher and presenter on all things gastronomic. Her no-nonsense approach has enabled her to build a solid career on television, radio and the mainstream and wine and food print media following on from practical experience as a caterer and café proprietor. Food Director of the iconic Australian Women's Weekly, with its readership of 2.6 million per month for over seven years, she is also well known as co-host of Fresh - with The Australian Women's Weekly daily on the Nine Network and for weekly appearances on Mornings with Kerri-Anne. She can be heard on Murray Wilton’s The Good Life on Sydney Radio 2GB on Monday nights. She has a strong following for her four best-selling cookbooks and many public appearances as an accomplished MC and public speaker. She is in high demand for personal appearances such as at food festivals and Masterclasses around Australia, at The Sydney Seafood School, The Royal Easter Show, as a debater and food judge. She is the longest serving restaurant reviewer in Sydney having written for The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide since 1987. Her unflagging energy sees her on the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society, Past President of both The Food Media Club Australia and the NSW Wine Press Club and member of the Tourism NSW Food and Wine Advisory Committee. She also works voluntarily for various charities and is An Australia Day Ambassador and for the Eating Disorders Foundation. She is much awarded by industry: the 3rd ever recipient of the highly prestigious Food Media Club of Australia Industry Peer Award in 1999; inaugural winner in 1995 of the Restaurant and Caterer's Association Award for Excellence for Outstanding Contribution to Food Media Journalism, winning again in 1997; in 2006 the Fine Wine Partners Award for Best Food and Wine Writing in The Vittoria Australian Food Media Awards for Balance. During 1999 Lyndey was the inaugural Food and Wine Editor of Australian Table, shaping the food and wine content of this magazine which won two MPA (Magazine Publishers’ Association) awards during her time there. Under her guidance, The Australian Women’s Weekly won the Bronze Ladle in the World Food Media Awards for the category Best Food Section in a Magazine in 2001 and was again a finalist in 2003. Prior to this she had written on food, wine and lifestyle for most magazines and newspapers. She was a regular guest on Bert Newton's Good Morning Australia for several years, having previously featured in Good Taste on the 10 Network in 1997, At Home with John Mangos from 1993-5 on Network 7 and on Monday to Friday in 1996. At the Sydney Olympics 2000 she did a live cross to the U.S., cooking on the prestigious Weekend Today Show. Lyndey Milan's forte is presenting seemingly complicated ideas in an easy, straight-forward and entertaining manner. She has passion, laughter and infectious enthusiasm, a communicator with a practical as well as an academic interest in food, wine and lifestyle. With two grown up children of her own, she well understands the more mundane realities of life. Prior to this and the start of her family, she had a successful career in advertising in both London and Sydney after obtaining a B.A. Dip. ED (with a double major in Fine Arts and History) from Sydney University. Most of all, she remains excited by food, wine and the community of the table.
